East Ridge boys swimming & diving: Raptors sink White Bear Lake 116-65

The East Ridge boys swimming and diving team continued to show off its skills this season after adding another win to their record after an incredible 116-65 victory against Suburban East Conference foe White Bear Lake.

The East Ridge boys swimming and diving team continued to show off its skills this season after adding another win to their record after an incredible 116-65 victory against Suburban East Conference foe White Bear Lake (1-3-1; 0-3 SEC) on Thursday, Jan. 5.

In the 200-yard medley relay, East Ridge’s team of Austin Davidson, Kent Rabideaux, Matt Koken and Aleksander Holleran took first place with their total final time of 1 minute, 46.25 seconds. They were followed by the team of Joey Trevis, Alex Theide, Mason Pflieger and Tyler Langsraat, whose collective time of 1:48.39 nabbed East Ridge the second-place spot in the event as well.

Davidson also contributed a first-place finish for the Raptors in the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly events with his respective times of 1:53.51 and 55.08. Finishing on his heels in both events was Kent Rabideaux, whose 1:56.10 and 57.33 final times earned him second place in both events.

In the 200-yard IM, East Ridge’s Garrett Verhoeven finished first with his final time of 2:14.08. He was followed in the event by second-place winner Pierce Firebaugh’s time of 2:16.18 and Pyan Schrifrel’s third-place time of 2:17.34.

Koken’s final 22.68 time in the 50 yard freestyle earned him first place in the event. Nate Rabideaux finished third with his 23.94 time. Koken also placed first in the 100-yard backstroke event, finishing at 56.76. Sam Scholz came in second in the 100-yard backstroke at 59.55.

In the 100-yard freestyle event, Scholz took first with a finishing time of 51.87. Nate Rabideaux followed in second place, charting a 52.96 time. Alex Thiede came in fourth place at 56.17.

The 500-yard freestyle saw David Scholz’s final 5:25.56 time earn him first place in the event. Holleran finished in second at 5:33.99 and Trevis’s 5:49.94 time earned him third place.

Kent Rabideaux, Nate Rabideaux, Schrifrel and Davidson also contributed to another Raptors first place win in the 200-yard freestyle relay event, clocking in a final time of 1:35.93. East Ridge’s team of Quint Larson, Verhoeven, Firebaugh and Pflieger finished in second place in the event with their collective time of 1:44.01.

East Ridge placed second in the diving event after Max Samuelson nabbed a 159.60 overall score in the event, behind White Bear Lake’s Patrick Slagerman, who finished in first place with his 171.00 score. Evan Coutu earned a score of 157.60 to take third place and East Ridge’s Lafayette Doty came in fifth in the event after racking up a 137.30 score.

The Raptors went up against intra-district rival Park on Tuesday, Jan. 10, after the Bulletin went to print. They are set to compete against Forest Lake at Woodbury Middle School on Thursday, Jan. 12 and travel to Stillwater to face the Ponies on Saturday, Jan. 14 in the True Team section meet.
