New Life girls basketball: Eagles lose close game to Class AAAA Hastings

The New Life Academy girls basketball team played a close game with Class AAAA school Hastings on Thursday, Dec. 22, at New Life Academy, but couldn’t come away with a win.

The New Life Academy girls basketball team played a close game with Class AAAA school Hastings on Thursday, Dec. 22, at New Life Academy, but couldn’t come away with a win. Hastings won 50-43 over the Eagles. New Life plays in Class AA.

Hastings (2-7)had a 29-21 lead at the half, however, the Eagles cut the deficit to 45-43 with 2:10 remaining in the game on a free throw by Aislinn Kavanagh, completing a 7-0 run. However, New Life (1-5) missed a pair of three point shots Hastings hit enough free throws down the stretch to escape with the win.

New Life sophomore Emily Bolduan led the way with a game-high 16 points. Also, freshman post player Val Hohol scored nine points and junior forward Matty Steele chipped in eight points.

Next, New Life competes in a holiday tournament at Fridley High School on Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 27 and 28.
