The East Ridge girls swimming and diving team took down Suburban East Conference opponent Roseville 97-89 on Monday, Oct. 10, before taking third place in the Section 3AA True Team meet on Saturday, Oct. 15, in Rosemount.
Against Roseville, East Ridge outscored Roseville 10-4 in the final event – the 400-yard freestyle relay – to seal the win. East Ridge’s Melanie Rabino, Rachel Treadway, Kelly Burnham and Maddie Peters finished first in the event with a time of 3:49.99, ahead of Roseville’s second-place 3:52.01. East Ridge also took third place in the event as Molly Patt Horan, Annika Reimer, Marissa Burleigh and Taylor Blatchford finished in a time of 4:05.73.
In all, East Ridge had seven first-place finishes in the 12-event meet.
In addition to helping the Raptors take first in the 400-yard free relay, senior Melanie Rabino took first place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.64, helped the 200-yard medley relay to a first-place finish with a time of 2:04.12 and garnered a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:06.73. Roseville’s Maddie Gray was first in the 100 back with a 1:04.85 time.
Like Rabino, Treadway helped both the 400-yard free relay and 200 medley relay take first place, won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:18.90 and earned second place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:30.72 – just back of Roseville’s Caitlin Gastecki, who was first in 5:28.45.
East Ridge outscored Roseville 10-6 in the diving competition as junior Jenna Karrow took first place with 270.10 points and the Raptors’ Erin Brino earned second with a 125.95 score.
Additionally, Peters finished in first place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:06.91 and Taylor Blatchford touched the wall first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:18.74.
In the Section 3AA True Team meet, East Ridge scored 859 total points to finish in third place in the six-team meet behind first-place Rosemount (1,034 points) and second-place Woodbury (985.5 points).
For East Ridge, Rabino, Treadway and Karrow won events for the Raptors. Karrow won the diving competition with a score of 417.15. Treadway took first place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.48 and Rabino won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:24.59.
East Ridge took on SEC-leading Stillwater on Tuesday, Oct. 18, after the Bulletin went to press. The Raptors’ next meet is on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at White Bear Lake.
