The East Ridge girls tennis team was defeated 5-2 by Cretin-Derham Hall and 7-0 by Hastings last week in a pair of Suburban East Conference matches.

East Ridge is now 8-5 overall and 3-4 in the conference.

To start the week, East Ridge battled Cretin-Derham Hall on Tuesday, Sept. 20, in St. Paul, with Maddie Blake winning at No. 2 singles and Natalie Robinson winning at third singles. However, East Ridge was swept by the Rangers in its next match, on Thursday, Sept. 22, at Forest Lake.

“We could have played better overall in both matches, especially versus Forest Lake,” East Ridge head coach Jon Rydberg said. “We had a good match at No. 1 singles with Leah Robinson and at No. 1 doubles with Emily Mueller and Taylor Anderson where we could of pulled out wins but fell short after a great effort.”

East Ridge took on Hill-Murray and Roseville on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, after the Bulletin went to print. Next, East Ridge puts a cap on its regular-season schedule when it takes on Hastings at East Ridge on Thursday, Sept. 29.

“Confidence is the key this time of year,” Rydberg said.
