Softball: Five district 833 players, one coach picked for All-Star series

District 833 will be well-represented at the annual Minnesota High School All-Star Girls Softball Series.
Park seniors Jessica Kullmann, Cassie MacArthur and Courtney Mills, East Ridge senior Alyssa Ronquillo and New Life Academy senior Katie Stodolka were all recently selected to participate in the 2011 Minnesota High School All-Star Girls Softball Series.
Additionally, NLA head coach Mick Ramey was picked to coach one of the six teams at the tournament.
The Minnesota High School Fastpitch Coaches Association and the Amateur Softball Association USA Softball — Minnesota Sports Federation are co-sponsoring the 23rd Annual Minnesota High School All-Star Girls Softball Series on June 12, which promotes and highlights Minnesota girls fastpitch softball.
The All-Star Softball Series features 72 of the state's best senior softball players along with 12 outstanding high school coaches.
The 72 all-stars honored were selected from over 6,000 girls who play high school softball in Minnesota. The All-Stars are selected by the Minnesota High School Fastpitch Coaches Association to represent all graduating seniors and are recognized as Minnesota's premier softball players.
The All-Stars are chosen and then "drafted" onto six teams. The teams will participate in a tournament totaling nine games.
The All-Star Series will include a Hall of Fame Banquet and breakfast buffet for the players, coaches, umpires, staff and volunteers as well as opening ceremonies, nine games and closing ceremonies.
The ASA USA-MSF will be awarding educational scholarships to three All-Stars on Sunday, June 12. The ASA USA-MSF is committed to supporting Minnesota's youth in their pursuit of their educational goals.
The festivities will be held at Caswell Park in Mankato on Sunday, June 12 with opening ceremonies at 12:30 p.m. and games held at 1 p.m., 2:45 p.m. and 3:45 p.m.
Admission is free to Junior Olympic and high school players wearing their team uniform shirt.
The ASA USA-MSF is recognized as the largest governing body for youth and adult amateur athletics in Minnesota, and serve as the state's affiliate of the Amateur Softball Association USA Softball.
