Open enrollment of most students living outside the district will be closed for 2009-2010, according to resolution approved by the school board, Dec. 18.

The only exception is for 11th-grade students. The state of Minnesota allows districts to close open enrollment in classes that are within 1 percent of capacity, but next year’s 11th-grade class is not at that point.

When enrollment in the junior class reaches capacity, it, too, will be closed.

When East Ridge High School opens next fall, and new attendance boundaries go into effect, no transfers will be allowed between high schools.

The school board will review the transfer policy for 2010-2011.

Students living outside the district who are enrolled this year, will be allowed to stay.
