Youth symphonies auditioning
Minnesota Youth Symphonies (MYS) are accepting registration for students to audition for the 2008-09 concert season. The symphonies perform professional-level repertoire for thousands of arts patrons each year.
The MYS orchestra training program serves 400 students each year with three full orchestras (strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion) and a string orchestra.
Every student passing a rigorous audition is accepted into an MYS orchestra, regardless of their ability to pay. The MYS Carissa Hayen Memorial Scholarship Program provides over $15,000 in tuition for qualified students each year.
Auditions will be held at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Highland Park, St. Paul from 3 to 8:30 p.m.: Tuesday, Aug. 19 for viola, cello, bass, flute; Wednesday, Aug. 20 for viola, cello, bass, clarinet, bassoon; Thursday, Aug.21, for violin, oboe, horn; Friday, Aug. 22 for violin, piano, percussion, harp; and from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 23 for violin, trumpet, trombone and tuba.
