Youth hockey: Woodbury 'A' Bantams earns state title defense shot
The Woodbury "A" Bantam boys hockey team is heading to the state tournament in Virginia, Minn., on March 18 to 20 to defend its state championship title from last year.
Woodbury advanced to the state tournament by placing first in both the District 8 tournament and the South Regional playoff tournament.
Woodbury had a very successful season with a 42-9-8 record that saw them play many of the top teams in the state. Woodbury advanced to state by winning nine games in a row through the District and Regional playoffs by compiling a combined 35 goals while allowing just nine goals against.
Woodbury will play its first state tournament game on Friday, March 18, in Virginia against East Grand Forks.
This is the second consecutive appearance for Woodbury in the state tournament.
Last year, the Woodbury "A" Bantams won the first state title in the history of the program by claiming the MAHA championship on Sunday, March 21, at the Richfield Ice Arena.
