Woodbury's Herber hired as new Red Wing principal

An assistant Woodbury High School principal will step into a larger role in southeastern Minnesota.

Red Wing Public Schools has hired Todd Herber as its new high school principal, pending approval from the School Board, after reassigning current principal Beth Borgen in March.

Herber, assistant principal at WHS, was chosen from four finalists for the position and will begin July 1.

“We are confident that we have found an enthusiastic leader with high expectations for our kids,” RWPS Supt. Karsten Anderson said. “And we are proud of the inclusive hiring process we used that involved parents, teachers, board members and administrators.”

A recent survey of parents and staff provided valuable insight as to what they would like to see in the next principal, Anderson said.

Red Wing High School has close to 1,000 students in grades eight through 12. Woodbury High School, one of four high schools in South Washington County School District, has around 1,700 students. Herber was one of three assistant principals.
