The Royals totaled 141.5 points. Annanadale/Maple Lake scored 203.5 points to take first.

Woodbury had more first-place individual finishes - three - than any other team and had eight wrestlers place in the top 6 in their weight classes.

Winning championship titles for the Royals at the invite were sophomores Ty Johnson and Ben Donnelly and junior Justin Herold-Plakut.

Johnson, who is unranked at 120 pounds and 8-2 on the year, beat Maple Grove's Logan Dick - who is ranked sixth - with a 2-0 decision in the final.

Donnelly, who is ranked fourth in the state in Class AAA at 138 pounds and 8-1 on the season, beat unranked Mahtomedi wrestler Jordan Helmer with a pin in the 145-pound championship match.

Herold-Plakut - ranked fourth at 152 pounds and 8-1 on the year - won a major decision (13-4) over Sauk Rapids/Rice's Chris Keske in the 160-pound final.

Also placing for the Royals was eighth-grader Austin Braun (fifth), sophomore David Beseman (sixth), junior Matt Delaney (fourth), senior Kevin Beseman (third), and junior Anthony Doreo (third).

Next, Woodbury wrestles in the highly anticipated District 833 Championship Duals against rivals Park and East Ridge at East Ridge High School on Thursday. Park won the title last year and holds rights to the District 833 traveling trophy. Woodbury is scheduled to wrestle Park at 5 p.m.
