Woodbury woman retains leadership role with state GOP
A Woodbury woman was re-elected to a top post in the Minnesota Republican Party.
The party's state central committee on April 13 re-elected Kelly Fenton to the position of deputy chairwoman on a vote of 251-90.
In a statement, Fenton said she and outgoing GOP Chairman Pat Shortridge have worked hard to restore strength to the party, which sustained a major financial blow in 2012 - a year that also saw tumult within the Senate Republican caucus.
"There is still much work to be done and I look forward to being a part of these efforts," Fenton said in the release. "We will work hard to take back the governor's office, the state House and our U.S. Senate seat."
Party activists elected former lawmaker Keith Downey as the state GOP's new chairman.
