Woodbury volleyball: Royals split pair of conference matches
The Woodbury volleyball team split a pair of Suburban East Conference matches last week, beating Hastings in four games and falling to Roseville 3-0.
The 1-1 record on the week put the Royals at 2-5 overall on the year and 2-1 in the Suburban East Conference.
According to Woodbury head coach Linda Crum, Sara Biermaier led the team in kills and passing, while Aby Andualum led in serving and in assists, along with Kelsie Schultze, while Monica Johnson led the team in blocks and Nicolette Linscott was the defensive leader. Crum added that Linscott was "instrumental" in the win over Hastings, as was Key-C Green.
"The win over a much improved Hastings team was a big step for our developing squad," Crum said. " It was a chance in a competitive environment to finish and win. Roseville has an excellent team this year and while we did some great things with our defense we were not able to stop them."
Woodbury played a non-conference match at Rosemount on Tuesday. Next, the Royals travel to White Bear Lake on Thursday to take on the Bears.
"White Bear Lake is a conference opponent that always has to be respected," Crum said. "We need to focus on our team effort along with making sure the little things in the game are done very well."
