Woodbury teen charged in alleged bat-wielding incident
A Woodbury teenager reportedly enraged over a neighbor's complaints to his mother was arrested after he allegedly took a bat to the neighbor's garage door.
Eighteen-year-old Drew Haggberg was arrested Thursday and jailed on suspicion of second-degree assault and felony property damage. According to the Washington County Attorney's Office, Haggberg is being charged with terroristic threats, a felony.
First Assistant Washington County Attorney Steve Povolny said prosecutors are awaiting additional information from investigators before considering additional charges.
The charges stemmed from a Tuesday incident at a neighboring house in the 1000 block of Regency Drive.
According to a preliminary Woodbury police report, the complainant had spoken with the boyfriend of Haggberg's mother. The complainant told that man to pass on concerns about how Haggberg hosted loud parties and how trash from the driveway blows into his yard, the report states.
Haggberg was told of the concerns, but "became agitated" at the complainant for making his mother speak to him about it.
On Tuesday, the complainant was leaving his residence in his vehicle when Haggberg allegedly stepped out of his house brandishing a baseball bat. Haggberg reportedly confronted the man with profanity and added, "You made my mom cry."
Haggberg allegedly stepped toward the complainant and said, "I am going to beat you," while raising the bat above his head in a threatening manner, the report states.
The man pulled his vehicle back into the garage and shut the door in an effort to escape the situation, according to the report. Haggberg allegedly kicked and dented the vehicle in the process.
Once the door closed, the teen allegedly began taking "full-out baseball swings" with the bat against the garage door, levying significant damage, according to the report.
Haggberg left the scene on his bicycle after the incident. According to the Washington County jail roster, Haggberg was arrested Thursday in the 2100 block of Radio Drive.
