Woodbury streets scheduled for a facelift
More than seven miles of roadway in Woodbury need a little bit of a makeover after years of wear and tear.
Woodbury City Council adopted a resolution Wednesday night allowing the engineering department to move forward with the 2011 Roadway Rehabilitation Project, a nearly $5 million construction project to begin this summer.
Based on a scoring system city engineers use to determine the road conditions, Wooddale Drive and Woodlane Drive, Tower Drive, Woodlane Hills, Woodcliff and Cochrane Drive, School Drive and Lake Road are deemed in bad shape and in need of improvements.
"This is a very large and ambitious project," City Engineer Klayton Eckles told the council.
Most residents living in those areas will not have to worry about infrastructure improvements, just minor repairs because the water main is still in good condition, Eckles said.
They will, however, be responsible for one-third of the projects costs through assessments. A few commercial units located in those areas will have to be assessed 90 percent of the total costs.
