A 40-year-old Woodbury man was charged in July with sexually assaulting a vulnerable adult woman at his parents’ house.

According to a criminal complaint, the woman brought the allegations to light after reporting the suspect, Craig Anthony Seigler, was sexually harassing her via text messaging and voice mail.

While talking with police, the woman said Seigler had sexually assaulted her on May 23 at his parents’ house in Woodbury. The woman said Seigler, whom she knew for years through church, took her into the basement to play board games, but he soon began groping her.

The complaint states he disrobed the woman while she protested and then raped her. She said Seigler stopped after his mother entered the bedroom to ask what they were doing.

Seigler is also classified as a vulnerable adult, according to the complaint.

In an interview with police, Seigler admitted to attempting sexual contact with her and that the woman pushed him off her. He denied that his mother interrupted the alleged sexual encounter. The mother said she might have checked on the room, but didn’t remember.

Washington County prosecutors charged Seigler with fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct.

He was charged with the same crime in a separate incident where he allegedly groped another vulnerable adult living in a Newport group home on May 25.
