After beating Minneapolis Washburn 60-53 last Tuesday at Woodbury High School, the Royals improved to 2-1 on the year - with their lone loss a mere 3-point defeat by fifth-ranked St. Paul Central. However, this week, Woodbury begins Suburban East Conference play.

The Royals traveled to Park (3-1) on Tuesday, after the Bulletin went to press. Next, Woodbury will head to Mounds View (3-2) to take on the Mustangs.

In its final tune-up before conference play began, Woodbury took down Washburn (2-1) thanks to the play of its three-headed monster of Kristina White, Mikaela Hunter and Kayla Bilski, who combined for 47 points in the game. White, a senior guard, led the way with 18 points. Hunter, a senior center had 17 points, and Bilski, a sophomore guard scored 12 points.

Woodbury took a 33-28 lead at the half and held on for the win, outscoring the Millers 27-25 in the second half.

Junior forward Chase Coley led Washburn with 22 points and 15 rebounds in the loss.
