Hosted by the Woodbury Gridiron Club, the Royal Open welcomes football alumni, community members, business leaders and any program supporters to take part. The Gridiron Club hopes to make the event "a great day of fellowship and program-building for the Woodbury High School football program."

The 2013 Royal Open will take place on Friday, Aug. 16, with a shotgun start at noon at the Oak Marsh Golf Club in Oakdale. Cost for 18 holes of golf and dinner is $125. Register before Aug. 2 and receive five free raffle tickets. More information about the event, as well as a link to registration, can be found on the Woodbury Gridiron Club website (www.woodburyroyalsfootball.com).

The 2013 Royal Open features former Woodbury High School football coach, Gary Halvorson, as the Guest of Honor. Halvorson will also be the Guest Speaker at the Season Kickoff Dinner immediately following the golf tournament. Halvorson is the winningest football coach in Woodbury High School history, and he led the Royals to their only state championship in 1998. This season marks the 15th anniversary of the 1998 state championship team, and the Royal Open will be one of two events planned to honor members of that squad.
