Woodbury Days bike ride rolls out on Saturday
Woodbury Days events kick off this weekend with a popular activity that's being held earlier than in years past.
The Woodbury Days bike ride will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, at CityWalk. The annual event had previously been held the weekend of Woodbury Days at Colby Lake Park.
Bike ride organizer Tony Ofstead said the change was made in an attempt to harness more momentum for Woodbury Days’ “Awesome August” promotion, which runs throughout the month.
The event will continue to offer the three separate bike ride opportunities for participants: the 10-mile family ride, the 30-mile ride and the 60-mile ride.
The event starts and finishes at CityWalk, which will also play host to a bike rodeo, helmet fitting and other activities, Ofstead said.
This year’s bike ride event will donate a portion of its proceeds to the Law Enforcement United program, which honors officers who have died in the line of duty and offers support services for their survivors.
Volunteers for this year's bike ride are still being sought.
Help is needed at registration, rest stops, providing basic bike help to riders and assisting with the post-ride picnic. Individuals, families and groups are encouraged to volunteer. Individuals must be 15 years old or older. All volunteers will receive a Bike Ride T-shirt.
