Woodbury cross country: Royals hit the road at Blaine invite

The Woodbury boys cross-country team finished sixth, while the Royals girls took seventh at the 15-team Blaine Invitational Thursday at Majestic Oaks Golf Course.

The Royals had 185 points with junior Nick Wareham leading the way with a fifth-place overall finish. Wareham completed the 5-kilometer course in 16 minutes, 59.8 seconds.

Woodbury senior Taylor Voit placed 16th with a time of 17:22.2, while senior Nathan Orf finished 29th in 17:43.7, freshman Joe Romain placed 58th in 18:07.2 and senior Daniel Buchmeier took 77th overall in 18:33.8.

Hopkins won the meet with 55 points while Minneapolis Washburn took second with 75 points and Minneapolis Southwest took third with 99 points.

The Woodbury girls cross-country team finished seventh with 193 points at the meet.

Eighth-grader Haley Orf paced the Royals with a 14th-place finish and a time of 15 minutes, 46.1 seconds on the 4-kilometer course.

Sophomore Katlyn Ableidinger finished 24th in 16:01 while sophomore Kathleen Danielson took 34th in 16:22.7, junior Julia Voss finished 58th in 16:55.8 and junior Catherine Henning took 63rd overall in 17:02.5.

East Ridge won the girls meet with 85 points, Hopkins took second with 105 and Minneapolis Washburn finished third with 139 points.
