The charge stems from a Feb. 16, 2010, incident where a Maplewood woman reported her car had been broken into in a church parking lot and several blank checks from her personal checking account were stolen.

She later learned several of her checks had been written and passed in Maplewood, White Bear Lake and Woodbury.

Several businesses in Woodbury reportedly received the stolen checks that totaled approximately $700.

Police spoke with employees at the businesses and found surveillance tapes in Maplewood that were able to identify Schaffer as the person who had been using the forged the checks.

Additionally, police spoke with a friend of Schaffer's who said she was driving her around on the incident date to various establishments, but didn't know the checks she was using were fraudulent.
