Woodbury High School loves its love songs.

Those tunes will be showcased next week at WHS' 2013 cabaret, "What's Love Got to do With it," running May 21-23 at the school.

The cabaret is a song-and-dance concert performed by all WHS choirs. This year's choirs include a total of 160 students.

All songs featured in this year's cabaret will be love songs.

"The songs are all about love and different kinds of love," WHS choir director Daryl Timmer said. "We've got good love, bad love, love gone wrong, new love. The songs kind of go with the personality of the choirs."

Some of the songs that will be featured in this year's cabaret are: "I Think I Love You" from the Partridge Family, "What's Love Got to do With it" by Tina Turner, "Do you Love Me" by the Contours, "Burning Love" by Elvis Presley, "Stop in the Name of Love" by the Supremes, "All You Need is Love" by the Beatles, "When I Fall in Love" by Nat King Cole, "Give a Little Love" by Noah and the Whale and a number of solo performances.

"I tried to take a look at different styles," Timmer said. "I wanted songs that are popular and also have crowd appeal."

In addition to the stage show, which includes all of the choirs, the cabaret will also feature an all-soloists dinner show.

"If we did all the solos at the stage show, we'd be there all night," Timmer said. "With the dinner show, the soloists get to have a moment in the light too."

Timmer said students have been working hard to perfect the styles of the various love songs.

"We're bringing the different styles of love songs to life, so we've been working with the kids to project that," he said. "We want to bring a fresh new feel to it since it is choirs doing it rather than (Tina Turner). Each student brings something different to the song they're doing -- they connect to it in a certain way."

Timmer said he expects this year's cabaret to be a success because love is something that everyone can relate to.

"It's something that we do everyday in one way or another whether that's loving our job, loving who we're with or encountering new people that you become fond of," he said. "Love is a universal thing that we experience everyday and love songs talk about the many different parts of love."

Woodbury High School's 2013 cabaret, "What's Love Got to do With it," will run May 21-23. The dinner show will run May 21-22 at 6 p.m. and tickets are $15 per person. Reservations to the dinner show are required by May 17. The stage show will run May 21-23 at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $5 for students and $7 for adults. Tickets can be purchased until May 17 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
