Vintage boat show at 'Manitou Days' event
The annual "Classic and Vintage Boat Show" will be held Saturday, June 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in front of the White Bear Shopping Center, located on the shore of White Bear Lake, White Bear Avenue at Highway 61.
Fifty boats are expected to be displayed on land and in water, including vintage wood and other unique boats, and all classes of sailboats that have graced White Bear Lake in the past century.
Among the celebrated boats will be "Teepee Tonka," a 20-foot D scow wooden sailboat, built by Johnson Boat Works of White Bear Lake in 1955. The tattoo "JBW 1955" is visible inside the boat. It was restored at the same facility, now White Bear Boat Works, in 2003 and is currently owned by the Owens family of Omaha, Neb.
There will be live music, food vendors and an art fair with 20 booths of local artists displaying their talents.
Attendees may participate in the "People's Choice Award" and be eligible for drawings of gift certificates from area merchants.
The boat show is a free, official Manitou Days event sponsored by White Bear Shopping Center, White Bear Boat Works, Tally's, Wolfgang's Bistro and Docks of White Bear.
