Stillwater Lift Bridge closing at 10 a.m. Tuesday due to flooding
Heads up commuters. If you use the Stillwater bridge, plan for a detour for some time.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has been informed that the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota State Patrol will close the Stillwater Lift Bridge at approximately 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23, due to high water and ice on the St. Croix River.
Officials are concerned about debris that is currently floating in the river and the potential for damage to the bridge from that debris.
The bridge will remain closed until further notice.
During the closure motorists may detour south to Interstate 494 at Hudson, Wis. or north to Highway 243 at Osceola, Wis. to cross the St. Croix River.
Updates on this and other road closures can be found at www.511mn.org or by dialing 5-1-1.
During the closure of the Stillwater lift bridge due to spring flooding, emergency medical services will still be provided by Lakeview Hospital EMS in western Wisconsin.
An extra ambulance will be staffed 24-hours on the Wisconsin side of the bridge during the closure to ensure continued expedient emergency medical services. Lakeview Hospital ambulances are all staffed by paramedics, 24-hours a day, providing the highest level advanced life support (ALS).
Dial 9-1-1 in the event of a medical emergency.
