St. Paul man suspected in Woodbury thefts

A St. Paul man was charged with two felonies last week in connection with a spate of robberies in a Woodbury neighborhood.

Brian McCarthy, 24, was jailed Friday, Dec. 23, on suspicion of theft and possession of stolen property. He was charged the same day with third-degree burglary and receiving stolen property.

According to police reports, police found an insurance card in McCarthy's possession during the course of an investigation into thefts and burglaries.

Officers made contact with a person at the residence connected to the card and learned a theft had occurred there from an unlocked vehicle. A female at the residence told police she saw a person in the yard matching McCarthy's description. Footprints in the snow were also consistent with McCarthy's shoes, police reported.

McCarthy is listed as a suspect in at least four theft incidents occurring Dec. 22 on Glen Road.
