City of Woodbury Pee Wee sports programs

The City of Woodbury Pee Wee sports programs start this week. Have your preschooler join the fun with the Pee Wee sports programs. Boys and girls, with an adult, will learn the basic skills and rules of the chosen sport. This program will allow children to have fun, be active, socialize and learn sportsmanship, all in a noncompetitive environment. Pee Wee Basketball: For ages 4-5 (with an adult) from Tuesday, Sept. 17-Oct. 8 from 6:55-7:40 p.m. at Valley Crossing Community School, cost is $29 (includes team shirt). Pee Wee Combo (one night of basketball, soccer, T-ball and floor hockey): For ages 4-5 (with an adult) from Thursday, Sept. 19-Oct. 10 from 6:55-7:40 p.m. at Valley Crossing Community School. Unite the Night coat drive football game Sept. 13

The Woodbury and East Ridge high school cheer teams, on behalf of the Salvation Army, will be collecting new or gently worn coats for all ages at the East Ridge versus Woodbury varsity football game on Friday, Sept. 13, at Woodbury High School. Clothes go to the Salvation Army’s annual “Coats for Kids” program that serves thousands of children in the twin cities area. East Ridge High School trap shooting fall league

The East Ridge High School trap shooting team will be participating in the 2013 Fall League. The six-week season begins Sept. 15. Registration is now open and information can be found at the Minnesota State High School Clay Target League web site ( The Fall league is open to new participants as well as returning Spring season trap team members. East Ridge’s range days will be Mondays from 4 to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. — noon. Students who participated in the 2013 ERHS Spring League do not need to register but need to indicate participation via email to Coach Mike Haas at erhstrapshootingteam@gmail. The $185 fee needs to be paid in full by Sept. 5. The cost covers shells, range fees, and league insurance/registration costs. Woodbury cheer clinic date changed to Sept. 12 and 13

The Woodbury cheerleaders have a new date for their annual cheer clinic. It will take place at Woodbury high school on Thursday, Sept. 12 and Friday, Sept. 13. The clinic is for anyone in grades K-6 who are interested in cheer. The cost is $30 includes T-shirt, Wednesday dinner, pep rally and admission to the game. WAA hockey registration under way

The Woodbury Area Hockey Club is accepting registration for its intro to hockey program, held at Bielenberg Sports Center. Fall session starts Sept. 7 and consists of 12 one-hour practices. Cost is $88. Equipment packages (limited quantity) are available. To register, visit

East Ridge football youth night picnic and tailgate party

The East Ridge Athletic Association is hosting the fourth annual ERAA Football Youth Night Picnic and Tailgate Party before the East Ridge High School Homecoming football game on Friday, Sept. 20 from 4-7 p.m. at the East Ridge High School practice field. The event will feature family fun, food, music and games with food provided by O’Malley’s. Don’t forget to wear your East Ridge flag or tackle football jersey to get free admission to the high school game. Tickets can be purchased at the event.

Second-annual 3-on-3 basketball league at Park High School

The Cottage Grove Athletic Association, in association with Midwest 3-on-3, will be hosting the second-annual 3-on-3 Basketball League this fall at the Park High School Activity Center. The league will run five Sunday evenings from Sept. 15 through Oct. 13. The league with have boy and girl divisions from fourth grade and lower through 10th grade. Teams will play two games per evening (10 total) and will receive team T-shirts. The league is a non-coached league and kids are encouraged to form their own teams and register. Last year the league had 103 teams in its first year and we are expecting more this year. Kids from Cottage Grove, Woodbury, Hastings, Hudson and other communities will be participating. The cost of the league is $55 per player. More detailed information and how to register is available at This league offers an exciting, affordable opportunity to enhance individual and team skills. The smaller team size increases offensive and defensive opportunities for each player as well as encourages teamwork through basic fundamental team play (pick and rolls, give and go’s, back-door cuts, etc. The intent of this program is to provide a fun, competitive learning environment for all players.

Registration open for 2013 fall volleyball

Registration is now open for the 2013 Fall Recreational Volleyball season. Fall Recreational Volleyball gives girls in grades 3-6 the opportunity to start learning the basics of volleyball. For more information please go to and click Sports, then Volleyball.
