Woodbury High School boys hockey golf tournament fundraiserThe Woodbury Royals Boys Hockey Team and Blue Line Club are hosting their 15th Annual Woodbury Boys High School Hockey Golf Tournament fundraiser Monday, Aug. 18. The event will be held at the Prestwick Country Club, located at 9555 Wedgewood Drive in Woodbury.WHS Alumni, hockey fans, future Royals, supporters and all golfers are welcome to golf and help support the biggest fundraiser of the year. Raptors golf campEast Ridge boys golf coach Bret Brookins and girls golf coach Mark Retica are hosting the third annual Raptors Men’s and Women’s Golf Camp. The camp will be held from 8:30-11:30 a.m. each day from July 21-24 at Prestwick Golf Club in Woodbury. The camp is open to anyone entering grades 6-12. The cost of the camp is $175 per golfer, with each golfer receiving a personal evaluation, drills and notes, instruction in all aspects of the game and an East Ridge High School golf hat. WHS National Honor Society 5KWoodbury High School’s National Honor Society will be holding its fourth annual 5K run Aug 16. The race will start at 9:30 a.m. on the WHS track. The event costs $15, with proceeds going to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Prizes for participants include gift cards and coupons from local businesses, parking passes, Royals gear, and more, along with the free food, water and Caribou coffee that will already be provided. If parents would like to participate, there will be a free child play station for their kids to stay while they run. Participants can sign up early on Eventbrite to be guaranteed a 5K T-Shirt. Minnesota Twins youth campThe Minnesota Twins will be hosting a youth training camp at Bielenberg Fields on July 21 and July 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Twins personnel as well as top college and high school coaches will provide daily instruction. The special instructor on hand will be former Twins player and Hall of Famer Rod Carew. Campers will compete in drills designed to improve hitting, fielding and throwing. The camp is open to kids from eight to 15-years-old and players will be grouped by age and skill level.. The cost of the camp is $200. To register, visit www.TwinsBaseball.com.

Woodbury boys soccer preseason campA Woodbury boys soccer preseason camp will be held Aug. 4-8 each morning from 9-11 a.m. Participation in the optional preseason camp is highly recommended for all players entering 9-12 grade, as it will prepare them for the upcoming school tryouts by sharpening skills, improving tactical skills and fitness. The cost of the camp is $55 for the week, but kids can pay $12 a day if they so choose. The completed registration, medical release and paid fee are due July 25. To register, go to the WHS Boys Soccer website and download the document under the Pre-Season Camp heading. Send the completed form and $55 check payable to WSC by Friday, July 25. After July 25, the cost of the camp will rise to $65 for the week or $15 per day. Walk-ons who don’t pre-register will be welcome participate as well.
Woodbury volleyball club registration openRegistration is open for the 2014 fall recreational volleyball season. Fall recreational volleyball gives girls in 3- 6 grades the opportunity to start learning the basics of volleyball. WHS Fall sports registration openWoodbury High School Fall Sports Registration opened July 11. To register, log on to WHS Activities website, http://www.whsactivities.org/, and click on the registration link. You will then be guided through the registration process. If you have any questions regarding free and reduced options or the registration process, please call the Activities Office at 651-768-4420. July office hours will be 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. most days. August office hours will be 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. You are also welcome to visit the office and register in person at the Woodbury High School Activities Office. Most fall sports start practice Aug. 11.
Register for Woodbury Country MileRegistration is underway for the 33rd annual Woodbury Country Mile family event. Runners of all levels can register for the event, which will be held on Sunday, Aug. 24. The race begins at 7:00 a.m. at Bielenberg Sports Center. The event offers a half marathon, a 5k run/walk for the adults a kid’s one mile fun run and a tot trot. In addition to the running events, other activities for the kids are planned including a jump house crazy hair station, face painting, and much more.Participants can register now on the Woodbury Chamber website (www.woodburychamber.org) and take advantage of the pre-registration discount. The half marathon costs $45 if you pre-register, $60 if you register on race weekend. The 5k Run/Walk costs $35 if you pre-register, $50 if you register on race weekend. The One Mile Fun Run costs $10 if you pre-register,, $15 if you register on race weekend. ERHS Fall Sports Registration openEast Ridge High School’s Fall Sports Online Registration opened July 15 . To register your athlete for MSHSL Fall Sports, please go to the East Ridge High School Website. On the home page under ‘Hot Topics’, click on the link ‘Fall Sports Registration will open on July 15.’ This link will take you to our athletic webpage with important registration information. Once you have read the information, you will be able to click on a link to the actual registration site. This site will have instructions regarding how to Log in. If you will need financial assistance or your student will be a team manager or you will exceed the family maximum fee payment of $475, please follow the special instructions at the bottom of the webpage. Please be sure that your athlete has a sports physical on file at East Ridge before you register and that it will not expire before Nov. 22. The sports physical is good for three years from the exam date. Registration will close July 30.
East Ridge Soccer Club Lil Raptors trainingEast Ridge Soccer Club will be holding three, four-week Lil Raptors Training Academy sessions for ages U5-U8. The cost of each session is $65 and includes a T-shirt. The program will be run by professional trainers at local soccer fields in Woodbury and Cottage Grove. Community Education summer campsSouth Washington County Schools Community Education is sponsoring summer sports camps and clinics for boys and girls in grades K-12. Camps and clinics include strength and conditioning, basketball, soccer, football, golf, tennis, dodgeball, cheerleading, dance and physical education games (only elementary ages). Various Skyhawks Sports Camps are also available. Camps are offered by varsity coaches at all three high schools in District 833. Camps are held at various high schools and middle schools throughout the school district. Classes begin June 9 and run through Aug. 8. Cost is $20-$150 per session. East Ridge girls basketball open gym for grades 4-12East Ridge High School is holding an open gym for girls basketball players in grades 4-12. This is a summer-long session that will provide an opportunity for players to get into the gym and work on basketball skills on their own. Supervision by the East Ridge staff will be on hand at all times to provide guidance for these sessions. The open gym will be Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, June 17-July 31, from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The camp will not meet week of July 4.
East Ridge girls basketball summer shooting workoutsEast Ridge is holding summer shooting and workouts for middle school-aged girls on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from June 10 to July 31 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. The basketball shooting workouts are designed for East Ridge girls entering sixth, seventh, and eighth grades next fall and will consist of repetitive game shots from game spots at game speeds, along with the fundamentals of free throw shooting. The workouts will consist of various competitive game-like situations and will be led by the East Ridge girls basketball coaching staff. Players attending will receive an East Ridge basketball T-shirt.
East Ridge football registration openYouth from the local area will fine tune their skills during an exciting football season with the East Ridge Athletic Association Football (ERAAF) program.The season runs from early August through late October, and practice times and dates will be available closer to the start of the season .Groupings including Kindergarten Flag, 1st/2nd Grade Flag and 3rd Grade thru 8th Grade Tackle.
