PWER Nordic ski meeting Oct. 30

Students interested in joining the PWER (Park, Woodbury and East Ridge) Nordic ski team this season should attend an information meeting at the Woodbury High School Lecture Hall on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. Contact coach Wacker with questions or view the PWER Nordic Ihigh webpage at for more information.


Spin it Teal benefit Nov. 2 in Woodbury

Minnesotans are invited to spin and sweat for a good cause on Saturday, Nov. 2 as the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MOCA) launches a unique fundraising event: Spin it Teal. MOCA is a statewide non-profit dedicated to raising awareness of ovarian cancer and funding the research needed to detect the disease early and treat it properly. Spin it Teal is a one-day event taking place at three metro-area locations, including Torque Studio Cycle in Woodbury from 9 – 10 a.m. For a $30 registration fee, participants can take part in a fun, high-energy spin class and enjoy refreshments and giveaways such as MOCA’s signature Tie it Teal shoelaces. Park looking for 1998 girls track state championship team contact info

Park High School is inducting the 1988 girls track state championship into the Hall of Fame in November. The school is looking for contact information for the individuals who competed in the state meet that year. These Park grads will be honored at the induction ceremony. The 1988 state championship girls track team: Anne Arlich (contact information known), Sara Bakula, Sue Chopski, Pam Karle, Chris Kreye (contact information known), Stacy Linzie, Theresa Sobaski, Kari Tegantvoort, and Amee Wiseth. Community Education winter sports sign-up

Winter is quickly approaching and District 833 Community Education is gearing up for its Middle School Athletics Program. Brochures were dropped off at Cottage Grove, Lake, Oltman, and Woodbury middle schools during the first week of October. Sports include: Seventh and eighth grade boys and girls basketball and boys wrestling (grades 6-8). Registrations will be on a first come first serve basis. Hale to the Bird 5K fundraiser run Thanksgiving morning

The fourth Hale to the Bird 5K run, benefiting the Friends In Need Food Shelf, will be held 9 a.m. Thanksgiving day (Thursday, Nov. 28) at Hamlet Park in Cottage Grove. The race is open everyone no matter what age or skill - the event is for both walkers and runners. Cost is $20 before Nov. 8 and $30 after Nov. 8, including on race day.
