Cottage Grove Ice Skating School summer lessons

The Cottage Grove Skating School is holding summer lessons on Monday evenings and Tuesday afternoons from June 16 to Aug. 21 at Cottage Grove Ice Arena. The Cottage Grove Skating School and its instructors are ISI certified under the direction of Liatra Oss. Lessons are provided for skaters of all ages and abilities. Their Learn-to-skate program is designed for recreational skating, figure skating, or hockey. Skaters may be shifted to a different class during the first couple of weeks to accommodate their ability. Helmets are required for all skaters 5 and under – bike helmets are okay. East Ridge volleyball Summer Skills Academy

The East Ridge Athletic Association and East Ridge High School girls volleyball program invites you to register for the ERAA/ERHS Summer Skills Academy for girls entering grades three through nine. The Skills Academy will focus on all aspects of the game emphasizing fundamentals. Players will be skill-tested and placed in groups of similar age and volleyball ability. Players with more experience receive an opportunity to practice position specific skills, hone in on areas of needed improvement and receive instruction and training from the ERHS team of coaches. All skills will be covered including passing, setting, hitting, digging, blocking, and serving as well as team defensive and offensive systems. The Skills Academy includes eight dates, Mondays and Wednesdays from June 9-July 9, excluding the week of July 4, from 4-6 p.m. at the East Ridge gym. The deadline to register is approaching quickly. Minnesota FCA softball clinic in June

The Minnesota Fellowship of Christian Athletes is hosting a softball clinic in June.

This is a comprehensive skills clinic for players ages 8 and older that will teach throwing, infield, outfield, base running, bunting and hitting. All skills instruction, including pitching instruction will be directed by elite level instructors who have played and/or coached at the elite, collegiate or pro level. They will be joined by current and former collegiate players. The clinic will be at East Ridge High School in Woodbury on June 11. Other dates are at Wayzata High School on June 10 and at the Caswell Park softball fields in Mankato on June 12.

East Ridge Soccer Club Lil Raptors training

East Ridge Soccer Club will be holding three, four-week Lil Raptors Training Academy sessions for ages U5-U8. The cost of each session is $65 and includes a T-shirt. The program will be run by Professional Trainers at local soccer fields in Woodbury and Cottage Grove. Registration is open on the ERAAmn.com Soccer Developmental page. Session 1 began on May 3. Session 2 is June 7, 14, 21 and 28. Session 3 is Aug. 2, 9, 16 and 23.

Junior Wolfpack football scholarship

The Junior Wolfpack Football Program is proud to offer a $500 scholarship for the best qualified applicant. The scholarship will be disbursed directly to the post-secondary institution upon submission of evidence of enrollment with full time status. Guidelines for this scholarship are: 1.The student must be a graduating Park High School senior and graduating member of the Park Wolfpack football program.; 2. The student must have maintained a 2.5 grade point average in high school; 3. The student must demonstrate responsible citizenship or volunteerism; and 4. Applicants must have participated in the Junior Wolfpack Football Program. The recipient will be notified at the Park Senior High School Spring Athletic Awards Banquet. Applications must be submitted no later than May 15. All scholarship applicants will be considered regardless of race, gender, creed, handicap or national origin. East Metro Rugby Club forming teams for spring

The East Metro Rugby Club in the South Washington County School District is forming a boys and a girls team this spring. Rugby will be added to the 2016 Olympics schedule and is a true blend of strength, finesse, speed, and stamina. The ball is advanced by carrying as in football but only lateral passes allowed or can be kicked forward at any time with teams of 15 per side and seven subs per match. Tackling results in possession turnover however no blocking is allowed. Play against some of the 20 Twin City High School teams in each league. Second annual Standing Strong 5K Run/Walk on May 17

The second annual Standing Strong 5K Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, May 17, at Hamlet Park (8883 Hamlet Ave. S., Cottage Grove). The event is a cooperative effort between Cottage Grove Middle School, Oltman Middle School and the Cottage Grove Lions Club. The money raised at the event will go towards anti-bullying programs in both middle schools. Almost 200 runners and walkers participated in last year’s inaugural event, raising over $12,000. The registration fee is $25 in advance and $30 on race day. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. the morning of the race, and the race begins at 9 a.m. More details about the event are available on the Standing Strong 5K website and preregistration is available online.

East Ridge K-5 girls basketball camp in June

East Ridge is holding a four-day basketball camp from Monday to Thursday, June 16-19 from 8:30-10:30 a.m., designed for girls entering Kindergarten - 5th grade next fall. Players will be grouped by age and ability, usually creating two or three age groups within the camp. Young players will learn valuable fundamental skills as well as the beginning steps of competition and teamwork. Many fun game-like competitive drills and skills contests will make this a fun four days of basketball. The camp will be led by the East Ridge girls basketball coaching staff. Players attending will receive an East Ridge basketball T-shirt. Register through the ERAA basketball website or through South Washington County Community Education.

East Ridge girls basketball open gym for grades 4-12

East Ridge High School is holding an open gym for girls basketball players in grades 4-12. This is a summer-long session that will provide an opportunity for players to get into the gym and work on basketball skills on their own. Supervision by the East Ridge staff will be on hand at all times to provide guidance for these sessions. The open gym will be Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, June 17-July 31, from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The camp will not meet week of July 4.

East Ridge girls basketball summer shooting workouts

East Ridge is holding summer shooting and workouts for middle school-aged girls on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from June 10-July 31 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. The basketball shooting workouts are designed for East Ridge girls entering 6th, 7th, and 8th grades next fall and will consist of repetitive game shots from game spots at game speeds, along with the fundamentals of free throw shooting. The workouts will consist of various competitive game-like situations and will be led by the East Ridge girls basketball coaching staff. Players attending will receive an East Ridge basketball T-shirt.

East Ridge is holding a girls basketball summer shooting and team strategies camp for girls entering grades 9-12 next fall. The camps will be held Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from June 10-July 31. The Tuesday camps, from 10:30-11:30 a.m., consist of repetitive game shots from game spots at game speeds, along with the fundamentals of free throw shooting. The Wednesday team strategies sessions, from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., will implement offensive and defensive strategies for the East Ridge girls basketball program in preparation for the 2014-2015 season. Workouts will be led by the East Ridge girls basketball coaching staff. Players attending will receive an East Ridge basketball T-shirt.

Football University Twin Cities camp at East Ridge June 27

Football University’s Twin Cities football camp will take place June 27-29 at East Ridge High School in Woodbury. Football University is an invitation-only, one-of-a-kind football training experience focusing on developing and enhancing the playmaking ability and skill of elite-level athletes in 6th to 11th grade. The training is provided by the NFL coaches and players. Although FBU does have an invitation-only policy, athletes are strongly encouraged to nominate themselves at http://www.footballuniversity.org.
