The Stephens ministers of Peaceful Grove/Woodbury United Methodist Church invites anyone who has experienced the death of a loved one, a divorce, the end of a significant relationship, a job loss, or a frightening diagnosis to "The Longest Night" service on Sunday, Dec. 21, 6:30 p.m. in the chapel at Woodbury United Methodist, 7465 Steepleview Road.

Dec. 21 is the winter solstice, literally the longest night of the year. For those who have experienced significant loss, "bright lights and cheery music can be painful and even accentuate loneliness and despair."

Attendees may light a prayer candle, sit back in the chapel "and enjoy lovely music performed by talented young local musicians" at this "sensitive, comforting and inspirational service."

Reverend Ruth Ann Ramstad will present the service "You are not alone." Communion will be offered to all who attend, and everyone will be given the opportunity to ring the steeple bell after the service.

Refreshments will be served afterward, and clergy and Stephens ministers will be on hand to talk to and offer a prayer for you. The church office phone number is (651) 738-0305.
