'Soirée Spooktakular' to aid WCF
Woodbury Minnesota 8420 City Centre Drive 55125

The Woodbury Community Foundation (WCF), Prestwick Golf Club and a host of local celebrities will present the inaugural "Soirée Spooktakular" -- a celebrity waiter dinner and fundraiser with a Halloween theme -- on Oct. 30.

The event will take place at 6 p.m. at Prestwick Golf Club.

The Soiree Spooktakular will benefit the WCF in its mission to ensure that Woodbury continues to be a caring place to live, work and play.

The group seeks to connect people and organizations with causes to have a direct and lasting impact on Woodbury for generations to come.

Woodbury resident "celebrities" ranging from political officials, high school coaches and principals to small business owners, radio show hosts and celebrities in their own minds will be serving up the best that Axel's at Prestwick has to offer.

They will work to raise tips with the goal of being top waiter for the evening.

The cocktail and "Black Carpet" reception will begin at 6 p.m., followed by dinner, a live auction and dancing.

Dinner participants will have an opportunity to dance with the "stars" -- including Vulcans from the St. Paul Winter Carnival and Darth Vader, as well as participate in a live auction to benefit the cause.

Auction items will include sports tickets, dinner packages and one-of-a-kind experiences in and around Woodbury.

Reservations, which are limited to 200 guests, can be made by e-mailing the WCF at or calling (651) 788-6586.

Costumes are encouraged but not mandatory.

The Woodbury Community Foundation was established in 2003 "to connect people and organizations with causes that matter in order to strengthen our community for the benefit of all."

To achieve the greatest impact, the WCF targets its grants toward specific areas.

These currently include meeting the social service needs of the citizens, enhancing health and safety and beautifying Woodbury.

Grants are given once a year to those organizations serving the community of Woodbury.

The foundation's goals are:

• Promote philanthropy to build a culture of giving within Woodbury and provide stewardship of permanent community resources.

• Build bridges between local government, non-profits and businesses.

• Provide community leadership by convening others around key topics and areas of interest.

• Act as a catalyst for change to improve Woodbury and inspire and engage its citizens.

• Fund non-profits that fit guidelines and serve the citizens.
