Senior housing coming to Woodbury's Urban Village
Officials announced Tuesday plans to build a senior community in Woodbury's Urban Village development.
The senior community will be operated by Saint Therese, a faith-based senior care and housing organization, with facilities in St. Louis Park, Brooklyn Park, New Hope and Shoreview.
"Saint Therese is delighted to be expanding in the east metro," President and CEO Barbara Rode said through a news release. "Woodbury is a progressive city supported by innovative leaders seeking the best options for their aging population."
A late-fall 2013 groundbreaking is scheduled for the project. The senior campus - expected to include some 275 units - will open in late 2014 or early 2015, according to the release.
The Saint Therese project will be located south of Bailiey Road and west of Radio Drive. It will be adjacent to the Bielenberg Gardens shopping center, slated for June construction.
The living community will include independent living apartments, assisted living and memory care units. Private nursing care suites will also be offered.
The news release says the campus will include a "town center" comprising a chapel, movie theater, café, beauty-barbershop and a wellness/rehab center.
