Salon Bambino caters to kids' hair
Kids in Woodbury can now get pampered from toddler age all the way to their teenage years.
Salon Bambino recently opened at the strip mall near the intersection of Valley Creek Road and Woodbury Drive.
Owner Sara Gruett has been doing hair for 19 years focusing on kids' hair for 15 of those years.
The Woodbury woman said she wanted to open a salon that children can grow up in with a designated area for the youngsters and another for older kids and teenagers.
The mother of four children, from ages 6 to 15, said she can relate to all the moms who are looking for the one stop shop.
"Something that all my kids could come to," Gruett said of Salon Bambino. "I wanted it to be a little bit of everything."
She also has a spot for pedicures where moms and their kids can get pampered and an area for the teenagers to get haircuts.
Salon Bambino is divided into two spots with six chairs total. One section is decked out with televisions playing cartoons, games and kid friendly seating. The other has more of an adult vibe.
The adult area offers express manicures and pedicures for the little ones, too, and will soon offer birthday parties.
"Just so they feel like they're getting the grown-up treatment," Gruett said.
When asked why she focuses on kids' hair, Gruett said it's something she's enjoyed since the age of 15.
"It's fun and it's playful," she said. "They're cute and they're sweet.
"I enjoy talking to the moms. You're a happy part of their day."
She was also inspired to open a salon that kids don't outgrow once they turn 7 and don't feel like sitting in the little chairs anymore.
"You could graduate over to the bigger side," Gruett said.
Additionally, she wanted to offer something for busy moms who don't have time to go to a few different salons to attend to each kid based on their age.
Salon Bambino offers color as well as haircuts with three total stylists working from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
