SAFE to host 'Internet & Text Messaging Safety' address
School District 833 School Age Family Education (SAFE) will host "Internet & Text Messaging Safety" on Monday, Feb. 23 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Lake Junior High School, 3133 Pioneer Drive, Woodbury.
The cost is $8 per person.
Detective Timothy Harris of the Washington County Sheriff's Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and Mary Gale, SAFE coordinator will be featured speakers.
Program information will include: the risks youth encounter while using Internet social networking sites, text/instant messaging and chat rooms; safety tips to assist parents in online world interaction; how changes in technology will affect your family; and setting age appropriate limits and boundaries for children in your home.
Harris has been a member of the Minnesota Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force since March 2006.
He has worked for the sheriff's office for nine years and has investigated crimes against children for the past 3 years.
