Royals soccer alumns to faceoff in NCAA tourney
Two former Royals girls soccer standouts will be on the same pitch this weekend in Minneapolis. But they will be on opposing teams.
Former Woodbury High School girls soccer players Mary Kroening and Kylie Kallman will compete 1 p.m. Saturday at the University of Minnesota's Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium in the Sweet Sixteen round of the NCAA womens soccer tournament.
Kallman is a senior defender for the Minnesota Gophers. Kroening is a freshman defender for the Georgetown Hoyas.
And Kylie won't be the only Kallman to represent her family at the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. Younger sister Kassey Kallman, a 2010 WHS graduate, scored a goal for the Florida State Seminoles in a victory over South Florida over the weekend. The win puts Kassey Kallman's Seminoles into a Sweet Sixteen matchup against Marquette.
