Relay For Life team kick-off time nears
The team kick-off for the 2008 Relay For Life of Woodbury is scheduled for Thursday, March 13 at 7 p.m. at King of Kings Lutheran Church.
This is an opportunity for participants, new and veteran, to come together to launch the Relay For Life season and get started on their team-building and fundraising activities. Anyone interested in getting involved is encouraged to attend.
The Relay is Woodbury's largest community fundraiser supporting the American Cancer Society's mission of bringing an end to cancer and its devastating effects. Local participants raised more than $230,000 in 2007, contributing to a nationwide total of $403 million.
As the American Cancer Society's signature fundraiser, Relay For Life allows participants of all ages and backgrounds -- including patients, caregivers, families, medical providers, businesses, civic organizations, youth groups, churches and community volunteers -- to rally in the fight against cancer.
Relay unites the community to celebrate those who have survived cancer, remember those lost to the disease, and raise money to fight back. Relay reminds people of the progress being made in the fight against cancer and that everyone who participates makes a difference.
This year's event will take place Friday and Saturday, June 20 and 21, from 6 p.m. until 9 a.m. at the Ojibway Park grounds.
