This year’s Relay for Life of South Washington County continued the fight.

Survivors and their families gathered at East Ridge High School football field Friday and Saturday, June 6-7 to celebrate, remember and fight back.

From speeches to activities, the entire event focused on supporting those who are still fighting the disease, celebrating others who won the fight and honoring loved ones who lost the battle.

Honorary survivor Jackie Mines shared her experience with breast cancer and encouraged everyone in the stands to never give up.

“You just have to say no to cancer,” she said. “You will not take over my life.”

The event had 80 teams and 697 participants who have raised $169,677, according to the organization’s website.
