NLA boys basketball Eagles top Bethany, fall to West Lutheran

The New Life Academy boys basketball team split a pair of games last week.

The Eagles came out on top against Bethany Academy on Tuesday, Jan. 10, but dropped a higher-scoring contest to West Lutheran three days later.

New Life led Bethany Academy 24-18 after the first half and held onto that lead to seal the 47-38 victory. Dan Otto led the Eagles with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Cam Duffy added 9 points and the Eagles had scoring from six other players, including 6 points apiece from Alex Heiser and Kyle Linton.

The Eagles (8-3; 2-1 MCAA South) followed up that victory with an 83-78 home loss to West Lutheran on Friday, Jan. 13. Four New Life players scored in the double digits led by 16 points from Cody Linton. Otto had 15 points, John Horner added 13 points and Heiser netted 12 points.

Dustin Barth led West Lutheran with 33 points.

The Eagles had a home game against Trinity at River Ridge on Tuesday, Jan. 17, after the Bulletin went to press.
