New Life Academy volleyball: Eagles remain unbeaten in past 13 matches
Unbeaten in their last 13 matches, the New Life Academy Eagles volleyball team wrapped up last week with a couple more wins over Minnesota Christian Athletic Association conference rivals Maranatha Christian Academy and West Lutheran to improve to 16-3 overall on the year.
New Life Academy, which is 4-0 and tied with fourth-ranked Southwest Christian for first place in the MCAA, beat both Maranatha and West Lutheran 3-0 last week.
The Eagles won 25-14, 25-16, and 25-12 against Maranatha and beat West Lutheran 25-15, 25-14, 25-10.
The Eagles were led by outside hitter, Abby Gorter, who against Maranatha had six service aces to go along with her 12 kills. Abby Thor, middle hitter, had nine kills and no errors against West Lutheran, and Hannah Nelson, an eighth grader who has really been coming on, had her second match in a row with no hitting errors. Nelson had seven kills in the match. Sophomore libero Maddie Stocker had 15 digs against West Lutheran as well. The Eagles compete in their final conference matches this week - against Lester Prairie (12-5; 3-2 MCAA) on Tuesday after the Bulletin went to press and the other undefeated conference rival, Southwest Christian (14-7; 4-0 MCAA)on Friday.
