New Life Academy girls basketball: Eagles win two in a row, sit at third place in conference
The New Life Academy girls basketball team won both of its game for the week giving them a six-game conference win streak after losing its first two conference games.
The win streak has elevated the Eagles to a 6-2 conference record and sole possession of third place and only a half game out of second in the MCAA conference.
On Tuesday, Jan. 22nd, the Eagles hosted conference rival West Lutheran and, behind the hot hand junior Emily Bouldan, defeated the Warriors 51-32.
Bouldan led all scorers with 20 points, while freshman Abby Thor scored nine.
With a staunch defensive effort from the Eagles, the team was able to build upon a seven point lead at halftime to break it open in the second half and win by 19.
Sophomore Valerie Hohol pulled down a team-leading 13 rebounds, and sophomore Sydney Steele had five assists.
On Friday, New Life traveled to Heritage Christian Academy and won 45-33.
In a slow-going contest, Hohol posted a double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Bouldan and Molly Saum each added eight points of their own, and Steele had five steals on defense.
The win gives New Life an 8-11 overall conference record.
The Eagles host conference rival, who is also a half-game ahead of New Life, Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity on Thursday evening.
