Nearly 2,000 vaccinated at flu clinics

Nearly 2,000 children were vaccinated against the H1N1 influenza virus during Washington County clinics Saturday.

Public health officials reported that 1,993 kids received the vaccine during the free clinics. Vaccinations were given in Forest Lake, Stillwater and Cottage Grove.

Children ages 4 to 9 received the vaccine, most in the nasal mist form. Kids who could not receive the nasal mist because of medical reasons received a flu shot.

"We are pleased with the response at all locations," said Lowell Johnson, public health director. "The public needs to be thanked for their helpfulness, patience and positive outlook."

There was no shortage of vaccination. The county had 4,000 doses for the clinic.
