More than 1,000 Woodbury Xcel customers without power
More than 1,000 Xcel Energy customers in Woodbury were without power late Thursday night as high winds met with heavy snow.
As of 10:48 p.m. Thursday, at least 1,600 customers in Woodbury reported outages. About 5 inches of snow was reported in the area just before 10 p.m., with more expected to fall throughout the night.
More than 2,200 customers were reportedly without power in areas of Cottage Grove, Newport and St. Paul Park.
Initial updates from Xcel Energy did not indicate when power would be restored for affected customers.
The weekend forecast calls for the snow to be followed by a plunge in temperatures.
According to the National Weather Service, the next several days could bring these conditions:
