Mile Drive part of construction chaos
Mile Drive will be closed temporarily, from Bailey Road to Dale Road, as part of the Pioneer Drive extension project.
Work is anticipated to be completed by late September, at which time the new Pioneer Drive extension will be open to motorists, according to the city of Woodbury.
The city will be starting construction for the replacement of Mile Drive with a two-lane roadway. This project will be an extension of existing Pioneer Drive from Hargis Parkway to Dale Road. Construction is scheduled to begin in early June, weather permitting. The new roadway extension is designed with a wide median that can be narrowed in the future to provide an additional two lanes of traffic for an ultimate four-lane section if traffic volumes warrant. Trails and landscaping will also be added along both sides of the new extension of Pioneer Drive.
This project is needed in order to allow development south of the Bailey Road and Mile Drive intersection.
The utility and street improvements will provide connection to future and current residential development of property east and west of the existing Mile Drive.
One such development currently under construction on the east side of Mile Drive is the Bailey Lake Addition.
