Marie Caroline Warnecke (Storhaug)

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Marie Caroline Warnecke (Storhaug), passed away peacefully on Dec. 5, 2009, at Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury, Minn.

An inurnment service for family and friends will be held in spring 2010 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Moorhead, Minn.

Marie was born on August 13, 1922, in Thief River Falls, Minn., to the late Haakon and Olga (Windsnes) Storhaug. She was a 1940 graduate of Lincoln High School and spent her early adult years working in Thief River Falls. On June 4, 1947, Marie was married to the late Oswald Carl Warnecke at the American Lutheran Church in Fargo, N.D. Thereafter, they raised their family and lived in the Moorhead area.

Marie is survived by her children, Nancy Olivieri of Woodbury, Bernita Jean Wilson (Donald) of Tustin, Calif., Douglas Warnecke (Joan) of Harwood, N.D.; seven grandchildren, Rochael Teynor (Mark) of Missoula, Mont., Justin Olivieri (Amy) of Waconia, Minn., Josef Olivieri of Woodbury, Michelle Warnecke of Fargo, Wade Wilson (Vivian) of Walnut Creek, Calif., Eric Wilson (Christina) of Foothill Ranch, Calif., Dane Wilson (Debbie) of San Clemente, Calif.; twelve great-grandchildren.

In her retirement, she knitted afghans for sick children and their families who reside at the Ronald McDonald House in Minneapolis. We will all miss her kindness, gentle nature, and "high-spirited determination."
