Man accused of wielding beer glass in bloody assault at Woodbury restaurant

A Lino Lakes man was charged with felony assault after allegedly smashing a man in the face with a beer glass over the weekend at a Woodbury restaurant.

Washington County prosecutors on Monday charged Cody Allan Decker, 40, with one count of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.

Decker is accused of wielding the beer glass during a confrontation on Saturday at Carmine’s Restaurant. Police were called to the scene at 11:39 p.m.

According to witness statements included in a criminal complaint, the confrontation occurred after someone at a booth bumped into Decker’s friend at the restaurant. A witness said the group was discussing the man’s reaction to having his chair bumped when Decker jumped up, asked “Do you guys have a … problem?” and smashed the alleged victim with the beer glass.

Another witness reported seeing the alleged victim and Decker swearing at each other before the alleged attack.

Police arrived at the restaurant to find Decker, whose right hand was covered in blood, the complaint states. The other man was found holidng a towel covered in blood.

The alleged victim was taken to Woodwinds Health Campus, where he was treated for a deep cut to his left cheek that had left muscle tissue exposed. He was later transferred to Regions Hospital for additional treatment of a facial arterial bleed, according to the complaint.

Decker makes his first court appearance on Dec. 18.
