A cadre of compadres hit the hill Sunday at Middleton Elementary after about 17 inches of snow fell in the area over the weekend. The half dozen friends built jumps for their sleds and snowboards even as temperatures began to drop to near zero.

Mike Broshat said the crew was on the same hill Saturday during the blizzard conditions, because, well they didn't have much else to do.

"This is probably the best hill for sledding in town," said Broshat, a student at Hill-Murray High School. "Don't give away our secret," he kidded. Staff photo by Hank Long.
