Local test results show math gains

South Washington County students scored higher than the state average in core subject areas this year but like the rest of Minnesota saw their reading scores plummet on a new test.

School District 833 students generally tested better than the state averages in math, science and reading, according to the 2013 Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment results released this week. The district showed gains of up to 8 percent in math at certain grade levels, compared to the 2012 results.
