Local business owners organize fundraiser for Haitian orphanage
Owners and operators of the Afton House Inn have helped organize a fundraiser on behalf of restaurant across the state to help an orphanage in Haiti.
The "Dine and Fly for Haiti" program features a collection of donated gift cards from restaurants from around the state where generated proceeds will go directly to completion an orphanage in Boucan, Haiti.
Generated proceeds will also go toward providing food and medical support for the orphans involved in the aftermath of the earthquake that struck the Caribbean country last month.
Dave Jarvis of the Afton House Inn and Stillwater Balloon Company owner Steve Jacobs have set a fundraising goal for the "Dine and Fly for Haiti" at $50,000.
"It's amazing to see our restaurant industry come together to aid in the Haiti crisis," Jarvis said in a prepared statement. "This is a great opportunity for Twin Cities diners to experience some of the area's best dining and to be a part of this most worthy cause."
