Letter: Thank you, Troop 196 Boy Scouts
Woodbury Minnesota 8420 City Centre Drive 55125

I am writing to say a big thank you to Boy Scout Troop 196.

On the evening of Monday, Jan. 12, just before 7 p.m., my wife, seven-month-old daughter and I were driving north on County Road 19.

Just past the Woodbury Church of Christ, our car came across an icy patch and I lost control and headed into the ditch.

I got out to try and push the car out and it was buried in the snow. Running through my head was the list of options -- call family and friends, a tow truck, etc.

Worrying about how the cold would affect my family until help arrived, I looked up and saw the greatest sight possible -- Troop 196 running toward my car with shovels to help get my car out of the ditch.

After about 15 minutes of digging and pushing, the car was out of the snow and we were able to continue on our way.

I want to say thank you, not only for the help that was provided, but also the manner the help was provided.

The boys were very joyful and genuinely wanted to help. They also offered great skill and knowledge by offering different ideas on how to get the car out.

We tried a few different strategies to finally dislodge the car. They also demonstrated great teamwork while executing each plan. Everyone did their part to pitch in.

Their help saved my family the time to wait for additional help and possible money to get the car towed out.

It was such a refreshing sense of relief when I saw those boys running out to help. We cannot thank you enough for that token of service.

I am proud to live in a community that where others are so willing to help out.
