Letter to the editor: Small businesses stand to take tax hit from lawmakers
Our legislators recently passed tax and spend budget proposals through the House and Senate with the usual "tax the rich" mentality. However they are taxing small businesses like mine that have struggled in the wake of a fragile economy. My business is especially sensitive to a struggling economy for I provide general bookkeeping services to small businesses. But, just as private industry appears to be growing again and the state economy is beginning to improve, state legislators are implementing a series of punishing taxes! Instead of taxing small business owners, legislators should cut waste from the budget. If there is a budget shortfall, they should review the budget and cut inefficient programs that don't serve Minnesotans well. We deserve legislators that are responsible and accountable with our money.
