Indiana man drowns in Lost Lake

An Indiana man drowned Monday in Lost Lake northwest of Cass Lake in Ten Lake Township, according to a press release from the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office.

Larry Wayne Clem, 57, of Columbia City, Ind., reportedly fell out of a fishing boat on Lost Lake and did not resurface, the press release said. The incident was reported at 10:30 a.m. Monday and his body was recovered about 1:50 p.m.

The Department of Natural Resources had an aircraft at the scene and conducted an overhead search while divers and a submersible remote operated vehicle were deployed to recover the body, the press release said.

Assisting in the recovery were members of the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office, DNR conservation officers, Leech Lake tribal conservation officers, Cass/Hubbard County Sheriff's Dive Team, Itasca County Sheriff's Dive Team, Louis County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team, Beltrami County Sheriff's Posse, Paul Bunyan Amateur Radio Club, Beltrami County GIS Office, Cass Lake Fire Responders, Cass Lake Ambulance, the America Red Cross and the United States Forest Service.
